A values-based information tool for consumers who want to understand where corporate money flows in American politics.

What the score means

Each brand receives a donation score from -100 to +100. A score near -100 indicates that the brand's corporate PAC directed nearly all of its reported contributions to Democratic-aligned committees. A score near +100 indicates the opposite. A score near zero means contributions were roughly split.

The score is a factual summary of reported contribution data. It is not an endorsement, a boycott recommendation, or a judgment about any brand's values. We report the numbers; you decide what to do with them.

How it's computed

For each brand, we identify the corporate PAC(s) registered with the FEC. We then sum all contributions from those PACs to candidates, party committees, and other political committees over the stated cycle window, and classify each recipient as Democratic-aligned, Republican-aligned, or other.

The score is computed as:

score = round((R_dollars - D_dollars) / (R_dollars + D_dollars) * 100)

A positive result means more money went to Republican-aligned committees; a negative result means more went to Democratic-aligned committees.

Data source

All donation data comes directly from FEC bulk downloads. The FEC is the U.S. Federal Election Commission; its data is public domain and carries no commercial restrictions.

We do not use OpenSecrets, FollowTheMoney, or any other third-party aggregator. We compute our own party splits from raw FEC data.

We do not use LLM-generated summaries of news articles. We do not republish copyrighted content. Every score is derived from primary government data.

What this tool is not

  • Not a boycott list. We do not tell you which brands to avoid.
  • Not a comprehensive political profile. PAC donations are one signal among many.
  • Not real-time. Data is refreshed periodically from FEC bulk downloads.
  • Not a rating of any brand's products, services, or employment practices.
